Oooooh, the earaches...

Yesterday morning I noticed Abby had kind of a "cruddy" cough. Not much. She was playing well, wasn't fussy, and seemed to be fine. Abby and I met my mom for lunch at Stalvey's and Abby was fine there. The MINUTE I put Abby back in the car to go run some errands, she starts wailing....I try talking to her - she is inconsolable. So I get to the next stop - and actually get her out and visit with a friend there for a while. She was a little pouty, but okay. Again, back in the car - wailing again. I still have about uh, 999 places to go, but realize that something, is in fact, wrong. She's "okay" - I just know she didn't feel so good. We get home and she cries, for at least 20 minutes afterward (which is SO NOT like her) - she even wimpered in her sleep. So, she took about an hour nap, and from which she awoke, still upset. She felt feverish, but checked it 3 different times, and each time, it was okay. So I try to play with her. She will not stand up, she will not sit up, she doesn't want to play, she doesn't want anything to eat or drink, she wouldn't blow kisses or even smile. I knew something was wrong. I call the doctor they say to come NOW. We get there and have to wait 2 hours! (Although, I was patient - I understand we were being worked in on a Friday afternoon at 4:00). So we finally see the doc at about 5:45. She listens to Abby's chest - she's a little concerned, but thinks her chest is clear. She then looks in her mouth - uh oh - she's VERY congested. Then come the ears. Both EARS. INFECTED. GREAT. So my poor little baby girl has got a double ear infection and a bad cold at the same time. NO WONDER she wasn't acting right. Abby's a little over 11 months now, and I think we've all done good with being healthy - this is the first "sick" visit to the doctor's office. (Other than the NICU and the clogged tear duct - which is cleared up now - thank God.) So she's sick. I'm sad. I didn't get much accomplished yesterday, but at least I was at home and able to be with my sick baby girl and not someone else. :) She already is starting to feel better now, although because we were both up last night, I think I may need a nap soon - as she is sleeping now.
